24 hours of homelessness
Are you looking for a great day of ministry for your group this year? We at Los Angeles Mission have an exciting opportunity that will not only open your student’s eyes but push their limits as well. This new ministry opportunity is called 24 Hours of Homelessness and we believe this will be a powerful and timely program for your group. Your group would be involved in a myriad of elements that are present here on Skid Row throughout any given 24 hour period. With the pervasiveness of a “me driven” society that so many of our young people are faced with, we believe this program to be essential in the turning point of their worldview. So what will young people experience from their time here at Los Angeles Mission?
A day at the mission
Los Angeles Mission is looking to give people a very real experience in the downtown area of Los Angeles. Just as the 24 Hours of Homelessness program does, the Day at the Mission program (groups of 8-25 people), seeks to offer an equally impacting microcosm of that program. The Day at the Mission, in a 4-hour period, will allow you to see Los Angeles Mission from the inside out. It is our intention to enlighten our community to how this ministry truly speaks to those who are struggling with a myriad of problems. Those who come will see the inner workings and get a “behind the scenes” look at what it takes to make a Rescue Mission function. The Day at the Mission provides volunteer experience in a number of ways including food service, event preparation, guest services and more. It will also allow you to see the real “Skid Row” from Wall Street to San Pedro Street and much more. You will get a live walking tour of downtown that will surely open your eyes to the reality of what people deal with each and every day.
