Tenerife Horse Rescue is located on Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, Spain, a popular tourist hotspot year-round, and it’s easy to understand why; the island is beautiful, with amazing weather all year.
However, the big downside of the island is that animal welfare is often poor. If you look beyond the resorts and beaches you will find kittens in the bin, puppies tied to fences, and horses kept in garages. If you look even closer you will see pregnant cats with diseases that could be fixed with simple vaccines, dogs with deadly parasites, and horses as young as one being ridden with rusty bits in their mouths and old saddles on their bleeding withers, often for the benefit of unsuspecting tourists.
Here at the sanctuary we like to be as open and honest as possible and show you exactly where your donations are going. We want to introduce you to all of our animals and future plans.
For this we open every day to give tours around the finca, meet the animals, volunteers and see the work in action. However please remember that our sanctuary is 100% run on volunteers so you must be flexible.
Our opening hours are 9:00 – 2:30 every day. Via appointment.
