Velebit refuge for young bears can be visited during spring, summer and autumn. Since bears are sleeping during the winter, we avoid disturbing them, and visits are exceptional if really necessary.
During the spring and fall, visitors should contact the Volunteer Station upon arrival to be welcomed, conducted and informed by one of the volunteers. In the summer, locals will welcome you, inform you and animate you.
We recommend visits during the early afternoon or late afternoon, especially during summer days. The refuge is never closed and can be visited from morning (9am) till dark (preferably until 7 pm).
